Andrew Bromley has been with PSE Associates for more than two years and is part of the firm’s pub team, working primarily with Fuller Smith & Turner and Star Pubs & Bars. He is also about to get involved with Hall and Woodhouse projects, working with our CEO, Paul Edwards, and Bob Long as they are coming into a very busy development period.

Andrew joined PSE Associates from a firm in Esher, Surrey, where he was involved with ‘ultra-high-end’ residential projects. He decided to move south to live with his girlfriend, now Fiancée.

As soon as Andrew came along to his interview with Colin Rhodes, he says he felt very drawn to the firm.

“It was obvious that PSE Associates was a very skilled firm, but I could tell it has a very welcoming culture and it felt like somewhere I’d like to work,” says Andrew. “The initial feelings I had at my interview were correct, as it’s certainly really friendly and supportive here, in addition to offering some very specialist skills and experience of very fast-paced leisure projects.”

“I was attracted by the fast-paced nature of the work, as the place I’d worked previously wasn’t like that; the projects involved huge figures and could take a fair amount of time.”

After leaving school, Andrew worked as an Estate Agent, where he came across surveyors who were valuing houses and providing condition surveys.

“I decided to look into the world of surveying generally and discovered what a broad term it was and the different types of surveying out there,” says Andrew. “I have a good friend who is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor and he told me more about what it involved. To me it seemed like solving the puzzle of how a building is put together (and taken apart!); I really enjoy looking at how a building can be reconfigured and opened up.”

Andrew enrolled on a distance learning course studying for a degree in quantity surveying, whilst taking a role as an assistant quantity surveyor. A few years down the track, he is on the verge of graduating with a BSc in Quantity Surveying and is planning to start his chartership studies next summer.

In his current role with PSE Associates, Andrew says he enjoys getting out onsite and has worked on projects across the south, recently handing over a flagship site in Cornwall for St Austell Brewery.

“I like building-up relationships with our clients, some of whom have been clients here for more than 25 years,” says Andrew.

There seems to be a theme at PSE Associates in terms of what the team like to do in their spare time, as Andrew is a keen hockey player and since moving south, he has joined Brighton & Hove Hockey Club. He also enjoys watching cricket and refurbishing his home, as well as cycling; he recently completed the London to Brighton bike ride, which took place over a weekend of extreme wind and rain.

PSE Associates provides traditional professional Quantity Surveying and Project Management services to many brand leaders in the leisure, retail and commercial sectors.
